How do we commemorate our upcoming 1,000th initiate? The alumni association board of directors has approved a goal of raising $100,000 to fully fund the endowed scholarship fund (Mom B fund) for the undergraduates.
That fund is a 501(c)(3) charity fund managed by the University of Iowa.
The goal is to receive written commitments from 100 initiates to donate $1,000 per person.
If we raise $100,000 then we may fully fund the scholarships for undergraduates in perpetuity.
The UI endowment holds the principal amount of the donated funds. Yearly it pays out the fund earnings (about 4%) for scholarships. So, the principal amount is never touched, and it lasts forever. Kudos to those brothers who kick-started this campaign in 1987 after the fire at the chapter house. Let's finish their work and fully fund the scholarships. Scholarships are given each semester for undergraduates who achieve a 3.0 gpa. Last spring the chapter was 4th among fraternities with 3.153. If you received a scholarship as an undergraduate, this now is your opportunity to give back.
